We did it!!

Yep we made the 26.2miles well in fact 26.6 miles!

For those of you that didn’t know on Sunday 29th April me and 3 colleges took part in the 1st Milton Keynes Marathon. We did the corporate relay, the sections were 6.5 miles x2, 8.5 miles and 4.7 miles.

We were raising money for Neuroscience and Neuro ITU unit at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. This charity is close to our heart as one of our colleges died of an anurisum- not sure I spelt that right! And also a few year back they saved my Mum’s life when she was diagnosed with a malignant turmor on her optic nerve.

We managed to raise over our target of £500 pounds and I think on the last look we had £620.

Sunday morning came and so did the rain :( it didn’t really stop raining all day till around 6pm! So we go soaked! One of the rivers had burst its bank so the course was made slightly bigger.

We was in and out of the car all day dropping everyone off at there relay points, we had to leave enough time tho in case the person running arrived earlier than they thought which did happen a few times!

I was the last to run I was soaked and cold before I even left to run. I had estimated it would take me about 1hr 15 to complete the 4.7 miles. I am not a good runner and I had not trained much. I left my station at 2.10pm and I was aiming to finish within an hour, I managed to complete it in 50mins in the pouring rain!! I am so chuffed with my self.

Our overall time was 5hrs 2mins which works out at about 11minute miles which is average for beginners I am told!
The guy who one was running on average something like 10miles an hour!! He was fast!!

We survived I am still today aching like a B.I.T.C.H but it was worth it! Next year I am aiming to do 10k for race for life. Ellen one of our runners signed up on Monday to do a half marathon! She is bloody mad!!

3 Days to go!

I have started to shit my self a bit more today! I got to work this morning and opened my emails after a fight with my slow computer! There was the email from Justgiving, 3days to go!

Shit shit shit.

This week has been a busy stressful one I can’t stop thinking I have 4.2 miles to run on Sunday, I have/ had a cold which has now gone to my chest and I am now panicking I have not done enough training!

We had a photographer come in and take pictures of us today sent by Best Western head office on request of the owner of our Hotel. Thanks MR V!!! Unfortunately our T-shirt were not printed in time but I have picked them up now.

After having our pictures taken we sat and went though the day. This was when I was told I am actually running 4.7 miles!!! Shit shit shit! I know I can do it but I am scared I will be last! Last out of 1400 people!! :(

We have now raised £617.00 so we are well above our target. Please keep donating tho as it’s for a good cause www.justgiving.com/mooreplacehotel

I guess someone has to be last just not me please!!

MK Marathon Part 2

Ok so we have one week till our Milton Keynes Marathon run!!

I am slightly shitting my self now, the reason being I am lazy! Please don’t tell anyone but I have not been for a run for about a month! Ssshhh!

Everyone at work is going ‘how’s the training?’ I reply with ‘its great thanks!’ Then think holy shit I haven’t done any must do some tomorrow!! Tomorrow never comes!

In this week I have to run at least every other day! I am glad I only have 4miles to run!

After reading that you are probably not very hopeful of me but please sponsor us below!

P.s I can do 4 miles in 50minutes this is with no training!

MK Marathon

So I’m not quite sure how we decided to take part in the Marathon at work. I think I was trawling the internet sites to see what events were on in the area that might produce us some accommodation, and came across the Milton Keynes Marathon! We started joking that we should take part, then we got all serious and it happened!! Next came the realisation that ‘shit’ we had signed up to do this there was no going back now!!

We are doing the corporate relay so not too bad! my section is now only 4.2 miles after swapping my section, I was doing 6.5miles!!! As for my training its gone out the window, I even got a treadmill of my MIL so I could practice at home after work. As from the weekend I will get my ass back into gear and get my running trainers on! We only have 2 months to go!

We are running for the Neuroscience Ward at John Radcliffe.  A couple of years ago they treated my mum for a Brain Tumour (maybe more about this later) and also one of the guys at work was treated there not so long ago. It’s a charity that is close in so many ways. Please donate some money to help out this cause and help us reach our target of £500.
